Laurie J. Berke

Laurie Berke joined TABB Group in May 2006 as a Senior Consultant, bringing more than 20 years of experience in equity and equity derivatives trading and technology. Promoted to Principal in March 2009, her primary focus is on TABB Group’s advisory and consulting work, including market sizing, opportunity assessment, competitive analysis, Voice of the Market deep dive intelligence and transaction due diligence.  On the research side, her talents extend to authoring such TABB reports as Institutional Equity Trading in America 2007:  Divining a Path to Liquidity; US Institutional Equity 2008: Crisis, Crossing and Competition; US Institutional Equity Trading 2009/2010:  Dark Pools, Transparency and Consequences; The Optimal Implementation:  ETFs, Futures and Swaps; US Broker Consolidation:  Cherry-Picking Season; FX Algorithms:  Bringing Best Execution to the FX Markets; Trading for Alpha 2011:  CSAs in US and Europe; European Market Quality: A Metric in Need of a Standard; Execution Consulting:  The Next Generation in Sales Trading.

Prior to joining TABB, she was a director at ITG Inc., where she spent 10 years in global execution services product management. She was responsible for the desktop product QuantEX, early development of the EMS Triton, ITG’s first algorithmic servers, the launch of ITG Canada’s trading systems and the global portfolio trading system. She also led the product management team in the globalization of ITG’s trading suite.


She moved to ITG after spending five years at Merrill Lynch as a senior vice president, responsible for the launch of its portfolio trading and derivatives business in the early 1990s.


She spent a brief tenure for one year as head of sales for AZX Inc., a single-price equity call-

auction market known as the Arizona Stock Exchange. From 1985 to 1990, rising to the position of senior vice president, she led the sales / trading team for Kidder Peabody’s portfolio trading and financial futures division. She began her career in 1979 as an options sales/trader at Paine Webber Inc. where she later launched the stock index arbitrage-trading desk in 1983.


She holds a BA degree in French lit, English lit and music from Bucknell University, Lewisburg, Pennsylvania.
