Andy Nybo, Principal and Head of TABB's Derivatives practice, has more than 20 years of experience in research and technology applications in the global capital markets.  He has been with TABB Group since August 2006 and currently focuses his research efforts on OTC and listed-equity derivatives markets, examining how technology is playing an increasingly integral role on both buy-side and sell-side desktops.

He also serves as lead consultant for derivatives-related consulting assignments and provides counsel to clients on the use of technology on derivatives trading desks.  He has managed assignments examining the adoption of electronic trading front-ends for derivatives, smart order routing technology, derivatives market structure and industry market data platforms.

Andy has written a number of studies examining the evolving derivatives markets, with a particular focus on technology, market structure and how the buy side and sell side are adapting to the changing environment.  Recent studies include “US Options Trading 2009: Resilience in the Face of Crisis;” “Options Algorithms: Moving Beyond the Smart Order Router;” “Trying to Make Change: Market Makers and the Evolving Option Market;” “Equity Options Trading 2008: Rising out of Obscurity;”  “Exchange-Traded Equity Derivatives: The Buy Side's Increasing Exposure;” and “Futures Trading Platforms: The Evolution of Point and Click Trading.”
 
Prior to joining TABB Group, he served as head of marketing and communications at MarketAxess Corporation, the operator of an electronic trading system for U.S. and European corporate and emerging market bonds.  At MarketAxess, he was responsible for all external communication efforts including public relations, advertising and marketing programs and was directly involved in managing the investor relation efforts for MarketAxess during its initial public offering of stock in November 2004.

Prior to his tenure at MarketAxess, Andy was a senior analyst with TowerGroup, where he authored numerous reports on the impact of technology on the capital markets with specific focuses on front-end trading systems in the fixed income and equity markets.  Topics covered in his reports included instant messaging, operational risk, desk-to-desk connectivity, price transparency in the fixed income markets and FIX for fixed income.  He also provided strategic consulting to clients on the impact of electronic trading in the securities markets.

Prior to TowerGroup, Andy was vice president and director of research at The Bond Market Association, now the Securities Industry and Financial Markets Association (SIFMA), where he was responsible for all aspects of the Association’s fixed income market research activities.  While at the Association, he authored numerous reports and studies examining electronic trading in the U.S. fixed income securities markets.
 
Andy has presented at a wide range of industry conferences and provided live and taped commentary for CNBC, CBS MarketWatch and Bloomberg TV.  He also has been quoted extensively in all major business publications including The Wall Street Journal, The New York Times, Business Week, Forbes and Financial Times.  He also has been quoted in many financial trade publications, including Advanced Trading, Investment Dealers Digest, Institutional Investor, Securities Industry News, Wall Street & Technology, Wall Street Letter, Derivatives Week, Futures, Futures Industry and Waters.
