Technical Research Analyst / Consultant

Overall Position Function
We are looking for self-motivated, self-directed individuals that intrinsically understand the application of technology to financial
services including programming techniques, infrastructure design and data management principles. Using that knowledge base, the candidate will be required to take and support research and consulting projects that typically revolve around the acquisition, analysis, and transformation of information into applied knowledge. Much of our work involves discussing cutting edge technology solutions with industry professionals and synthesizing this information into published research and proprietary studies for CXO level executives. Because the audience is a mix of business and technology executives, the ability to bridge the gap between the two is key.
Responsibilities
- Interview financial markets professionals about various cutting-edge trading strategies and technologies
- Structure and analyze information gathered via interview and ascertain critical issues, concerns, and trends
- Seek out and gain an intimate knowledge of leading edge technology products impacting the financial markets.
- Deliver strategic and tactical consulting engagements
- Write research reports based upon these findings.
- Become an industry recognized expert in the field
- Present information at conferences and seminars
- Handle ad hoc queries from customers and prospects.
Required Experience and Knowledge
- Minimum of 5 years experience in IT with major Broker/Dealer, Money Manager, Hedge Fund, or vendor supporting one of these constituencies
- Minimum of 5 years of technology focused business analysis, corporate strategy, or internal consulting experience either within financial markets firm or a consulting firm
- Excellent knowledge of equities or derivatives market structure and understanding of advanced electronic execution systems, such as algorithms.
- Must be entrepreneurial, self motivated, and focused - able to work independently for days or weeks at a time without heavy supervision
- A strong desire to be a leading industry thinker and influencer
- Ability to present at conferences in front of large groups
- Excellent facility with MS Word, PowerPoint and Excel
- Writing experience a big plus.

Compensation
Compensation plan commensurate with experience and includes competitive salary and bonus predicated upon performance, 3% matching 401K Plan and Health Benefits.
Relocation is not budgeted for this position.
